Weston Favell House – Two bespoke extensions transformed this home inside and out.

In Weston Favell, Northampton, MWK Architects designed and delivered two bespoke additions to a family home, each enhancing the property’s functionality and character. The projects, were carefully planned to meet the client’s unique requirements while blending seamlessly with the existing architecture.

Double Garage Extension

The first stage of the project was the creation of a new double garage at the boundary of the site. Our design combined functionality with architectural sensitivity, using carefully matched stonework, brickwork, and blockwork to ensure the extension sat comfortably within its setting. A stone parapet wall and flat roof provided a clean, contemporary finish.

As is often the case with existing buildings, a few challenges arose during construction. These were addressed promptly through close collaboration with the contractor, ensuring the project stayed on track and true to the design vision.

Kitchen–Dining Extension

On the opposite side of the property, we designed a contemporary kitchen–dining room extension to form a bright and welcoming heart of the home. The layout was tailored to the client’s lifestyle, providing generous open-plan space ideal for everyday living, family gatherings, and entertaining.

A combination of timber frame and masonry construction allowed us to create a structure that is both durable and energy-efficient. Large windows maximise natural light and connect the interior with the garden, while the overall design harmonises with the existing home.
