After 8 years in the planning, our urban regeneration scheme for Vicarage Road in Northampton has finally started on site with the arrival of the demolition contractors. Quite why it has taken 8 years to get a derelict site regenerated can be explained by the number of hurdles that we have had to clear to get there. Strategic planning, housing strategy, bids for funding, bringing disparate owners together, flooding concerns, highways, getting a housing association on board, the land registry, planning applications, crime prevention… and people think architecture is just about producing drawings – for us at MWK Architects Ltd it is all about making it happen!
Construction is due to commence in September, led by GEDA Construction.
