For over 18 years, MWK Architects has been dedicated to transforming communities through impactful projects, with a strong emphasis on affordable housing. This scheme stands as a testament to the power of perseverance and innovative design.

Our journey began when the Director of MWK Architects Dominic Kramer saw the potential for the regeneration of this site where others only saw problems. 

Ten years ago, this site was a burnt-out Victorian factory site in the middle of terrace housing and neighbouring an adjacent award-winning primary school.  Living only streets away from the site Dominic was dismayed to see this dereliction on his doorstep.  Determined to do something about it he set out to regenerate the area.

Despite the local planners at the then Northampton Borough Council telling him that they deemed the site ‘too difficult,’ he initiated a bold plan to bring the project to life. By finding and negotiating with the four different landowners, he was able to propose a transformative development.  Then in collaboration with a forward looking housing association, he brought on board local councillors and the council’s strategic housing officer, thereby managing to lay the foundation for this remarkable transformation.

Starting in 2012, it took eight years of securing grant funding and navigating the planning process to turn this vision into reality. In August 2020, GEDA Construction broke ground, and despite the challenges of the COVID lockdown, the project was completed in December 2021.  The scheme consists of a mixture of 2 Bed and 3 Bed Houses, and four flats all managed by Platform Housing Group.
