Temple Mews

This small development consisted of 4 houses and 3 flats on an infill site in the historic town of Rugby.  The site was previously a builder’s yard in the Victorian part of the town.  The developer’s purchased the site with planning permission and asked us to realise the design and complete the detailed drawings required for construction.  The layout reflects the need to respect the Victorian context, with the 3 storey flats situated at the end of the existing terrace.

The houses are set back in a rear courtyard now named Temple Mews.  Forming their own terrace, the houses are all three storey with the master bedroom suite contained within the roof’s attic.  On the ground floor the rear elevations have full width doors that allow the kitchen and dining space to open out directly onto the paved courtyard making for a very private space that can be enjoyed in the summer.

This work is typical of the sort of urban regeneration work that the practice undertakes putting brown field sites back into use.
