On the 6th November 2019, our director Dominic Kramer spoke at the National Smaller Housing Associations’ Conference and Exhibition.
Dominic’s breakfast briefing session was titled ‘Tackling Climate Change: What Must Housing Do?’. The UK’s Committee on Climate Change has called for a target of net-zero greenhouse gas emissions in the UK by 2050. Dominic answered the questions: What role does housing play in achieving this target? How will we have to modify homes to meet new standards? What’s the cost implication and where can you get support?
Dominic also discussed the Passivhaus appraoch to building homes. The presentation explored how Passivhaus compares to UK standards, the elements of Passivhaus and examples of Passivhaus across the country.
